Can a Golf Club Component Improve Your Game?

Every golfer is looking for the best equipment out there to make their game top notch. Top brands advertise with professional golfers to showcase their equipment because they know if the best golfers are using their equipment, other golfers will catch on and maybe try their products also. But what makes a good club, how do you know what to look for in new equipment, and what is the most important golf club component?

What to Look for

To find the best golf club component, we should first look at how a golf club is made. The clubs break down into three separate parts; the grip, the shaft and the head. First, the grip is at the top part of the shaft and it is where the golfer holds the club. Grips can be made of many different materials, the most common being leather. Second, the shaft is the center part of the club and is usually made up of steel or carbon fiber. The difference in the shafts are measured in stiffness and length, a general rule of thumb being, the more stiff the shaft, the better golfer you need to be to hit it correctly.

Lastly, the head is the part of the club that makes contact with the ball, and the most common golf club component variance to look for in a club. The weight, shape, and material of this golf club component are what differentiate a manufacturers club from the others. Researchers have experimented with metals such as titanium, steel and bronze in order to find this balance, and it's still a raging battle to this day as to who's got the best combination.

What Makes a Better Head?

Engineers have been designing and redesigning this particular golf club component for over 100 years. The basic premise of these redesigns is to find the effect balance between the stable, heavier club head and the lighter, longer distance club head. The heavier club does not twist as much during the stroke, which will allow for a more accurate, but less expansive shot. Whereas the lighter head will allow for longer distance, but is less forgiving of a loose form.

Where it Stands

The most important golf club component may be the head, but it works in conjunction with the rest of the club to provide optimal performance. Where does that leave us you may ask? Well, in the end, what it comes down to is the individual golf club component that makes the most impact on the game - is the golfer. The best way to find out what the best club is for you is to try them out, every swing is different, and every club works differently in an individual's hands. So get out there and start swinging!
